At Old California Botanicals, our dedication to preserving nature and caring for our community extends far beyond our carefully crafted products. We pay meticulous attention to our packaging, ensuring it aligns with our values of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Here's a quick guide on how to responsibly dispose of or creatively reuse our packaging.
Understanding the Environmental Impact of Packaging
Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) significantly contribute to landfill waste. According to recent studies, packaging materials account for nearly 30% of landfill waste annually. Plastics alone can take hundreds of years to decompose, with some types remaining in the environment for up to 500 years or longer, and microplastics can remain in the soil and impact plants and produce that grow in it. This alarming reality underscores the importance of mindful disposal and creative reuse practices.
How to Dispose and Reuse Old California Botanicals Packaging
Lip Balm Tubes:
Our lip balm tubes are crafted from recycled plastic and are fully recyclable. Simply place them in your curbside recycling bin to ensure they're processed sustainably.
Lip Balm Boxes:
Made from craft paper, these boxes are both recyclable and compostable. Add them to your compost pile, garden soil, or recycling bin to minimize environmental impact.
Candle Tins:
The tins we use for our candles are highly versatile. After you've enjoyed your candle, recycle the tin or reuse it creatively—perhaps as a stylish container for small items like jewelry, paper clips, or plant seeds.
Candle Cloches:
Our elegant candle cloches offer beautiful, lasting utility long after the original candle is gone. Repurpose them as mini terrariums for your favorite plants, or use them decoratively to hold potpourri, dried flower petals, seashells, or even another candle.
Candle Cloche Packaging:
The boxes and interior packaging we use are recyclable corrugated cardboard and styrofoam and can be treated as recyclable in disposing them.
Perfume Bottles:
Made of glass, our perfume bottles are easily recyclable. Simply rinse them and place them in your glass recycling bin to give them new life. Alternatively, repurpose the bottles as delicate vases for small blooms or decorative display pieces.
Marmalade Jars:
Our glass marmalade jars provide endless creative reuse opportunities, perfect for crafting projects, food storage, homemade candle making, or even chic drinking glasses. Once you've finished enjoying your marmalade, you can also recycle the jar with your standard glass recycling.
Bubble Wrap:
Although bubble-wrap is plastic, not every municipal waste disposal service will treat bubble wrap as recyclable, but if treated correctly, it is reusable! In our packaging we strive to use them in whole units and make the objects they protect easy to unwrap in order to maximize their future usefulness.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Old California Botanicals, we understand our role in protecting our environment. Each piece of our packaging has been thoughtfully selected to minimize ecological impact while encouraging reuse and responsible recycling. Together, we can reduce landfill waste and ensure that the beauty and bounty of California's nature remain vibrant for generations to come.
