For the Holidays

Winter in Redlands is citrus season: fruit on the trees, warm spice in the kitchen and cards going east to family in the snow. These are the gifts we make for it.

To send. Winter in California Cards, 5-pack reproduces a 4x6 card from our family archive, which our great-grandfather sent from Southern California to relatives in Pennsylvania. Each card has its own envelope and says "Season's Greetings" inside.

For stockings. Our winter lip balms, in 4-packs: Orange Clove, like an old-fashioned pomander; Orange Cinnamon, gently spiced; Orange Peppermint, with a cool finish; Orange Pomegranate; and Lemon Bay, lemon with green bay. The Spiced Variety pack puts several of them together.

For the table. The Orange Blossom Sourdough Starter is a wild-yeast culture descended from a starter shared from a Whittier kitchen in the 1930s and harvested from our heritage grove. It works for loaves, pancakes, pizza dough and crackers.
