Prickly Pear

Cactus fruit, garden walls and the dry warmth of a Southern California afternoon. This is the desert side of our lip balm range.

Prickly Pear Lip Balm is flavored with prickly pear extract, in a base of beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil. The beeswax comes from local beekeepers our family has known for four generations; their bees have helped pollinate our local orchards for nearly 90 years. The wax has a natural sweetness of its own, so the fruit comes through bright and a little unexpected.

There are three ways to buy it:

• Prickly Pear Lip Balm, 4-pack. Four tubes of the one flavor.
• Fruit Variety Lip Balm, 4-pack. Prickly Pear with Date Shake, Orange Pomegranate and Ojai Pixie Tangerine: orchard fruit, desert fruit and a roadside fruit stand in one set.
• Seasonal Lip Balm Club. Four seasonal boxes over a year. Prickly Pear comes in the spring and summer box, with Eureka Lemon, Date Shake and a passionfruit, orange and guava balm.

Each tube is 0.15 oz and is made by Old California Botanicals in Redlands, California. It is small enough for a pocket or a stocking, and one of the more surprising flavors to give.
